Re: Rectal prolapse?
Taken from the Hamsterlaopedia book:
Rectal Prolapse: When part of the rectum collapses and protrudes from the anus. It is usually a sequel to another disease.
Signs: A red swelling protruding from the anus
Cause: Usually follows a bout of diarrhoea
Treatment: The prolapse must be cleaned and gently replaced by a vet, which may require a general anasthetic. Fluids should be given until the hamster is eating normally.
Hope this helps and good luck. x

Re: Rectal prolapse?
Thankyou everyone, your all very comforting.
Porridge was took to the vets by my kind sister this morning as I had school. Thankfully its not a rectal prolapse, although the vet suspects it could be either a wart or even a tumour
I've taken the plunge and hes booked in for an operation to have it removed Monday
I'm going to be a nervous wreck, but I'd rather he'd have it now while hes fit and healthy!
Hes going to be spoilt rotten this weekend xx
