I would suggest a fan for the room, sounds like you are doing all you can really..btw why is your Parakeet miserable? is he a grumpy old thing?

I'd stick some 0.5liter bottles of water into a freezer over night and position them between cages (right next to them if possible) so everyone have a bottle near part of the cage. Maybe even move the bedding from that part of the cage and they soon figure out is much cooler in that spot and go cool of there. This would work best with bared cages thou, i think.

I have just recently read somewhere that a piece of slate can be good as this is cool to rest on. Also, when I went to P@H I'm sure that I saw some ledges made for Chinchillas, and I think there were ones that went in the freezer so they could cool down on it.

Thankyou very much! Glad you like them! Once my syrian worked out that treats are always inside the cracker, she goes crazy over them! My dwarf took longer to figure it out, so I had to actually make the hole for him, and now he sits inside the cracker to nibble the treats! Isn't it funny how they all have their own little different personalites.

I thought that the big bottle frozen sounded like a really good idea - really cheap and easy to have quite a few of them next to the cage to cool a section down for them!
