Re: Decisions for Chewbacca
I snuck off to bed, bawling my eyes out with guilt. After ten minutes I realised I really wanted my mini eggs out of the fridge, so I snuck back though (the long way, through 3 doors, to avoid his cage), and I saw his ears poking out of his giant nest. So to be honest, I think I've done right tonight, I think he needs a rest and some quiet. So I don't feel so awful now. I left him with lots of his favourite foods, hoping he will eat something. After chasing him around with water earlier and failing, I put extra posho baby food in for the liquid.
So we are a peaceful household now, and we should rest as tomorrow is a long day heh .
I hope Indy is enjoying schnuffling about in his nice clean cage - I imagine him to be like Chewy in that respect. No decorum at all

Hah! I know! I don't know what I was thinking. I think my instant response was just too stressful for him, he won't cope with the anaesthetic, I don't want him staying at the vets all day and so on.
It took a bit of a while for me to get my sensible head in gear. You just don't want folk prodding and poking your little ones without you around really! I'm a muppet

Re: Decisions for Chewbacca
Oh Sam, I am so sorry, only just logged on now and saw this thread. What tough decisions you have had to make
I think you are doing the right thing by getting the x-ray done, at least then you will have done all you can to try and help him. Maybe if you didnt you would always be thinking 'what if . . . ' ?
I know that there is not much I can do from behind a computer screen, but I do wish you and Chew all the best for the vets, and I hope that all goes as well as it is able to. What Nat (AI) said is true, we are like a little family here and we all try and support other members, that includes helping through the bad times as well as sharing in the good.
Oh and no wonder he has put on 3g, with all the lovely food you have been showering on him (posh baby food eh?! ), you are doing a fab job and he is very lucky to have you as his mummy!
Keep us updated ok?
Sending love and hugs to you both x x

Re: Decisions for Chewbacca
Quick note to say we are home safe and sound - Chewy has an enlarged heart . But everyone at the vets loved him, he's had quite an adventure, and has lots of medicines. I'll write more later, but got lots of pals round
Hope Bear is getting better too folks! x

Re: Decisions for Chewbacca
Sad news But at least he could still be a good boy and live for a while with medications. Be sure to tell him what a lucky ham he is to have you to take care of him!
