The eye gunking prob old age from sleep, i use a small cotton bud with warm water but usually opens up on its own.

Right-

that is awful for you and only you as his mummy can make that decision. They may only be small but look at diamonds, they are small and are worth thousands.

personally speaking, not knowing about Gizmo and Monty tears me apart so if money is ok and you know the risks of the general then do it for piece of mind.

hugs to you, really, i mean it xxx

Thank you millions AI. I think I am doing the right thing getting the x ray. If it is his time and his body gives out during the anaesthetic, so be it. I shall be distraught, but at least it's peaceful. Hopefully it won't, and we can see how best to proceed to keep him happy.

I've just had a fantastic five minutes watching him shove his normal nest box out of the way and build a giant tissue nest in it's place, the nutter . I've put the heater on in here to try and keep him cosy.

Here he is looking cosy and smug in half a box-worth of kleenex. Yeah, who bought the wrong toilet paper this week .

So here is Chewy saying thanks for the support everyone..

oh Chew, your such a sweetheart!
Hes still got life in him from the sounds of it, you know him best and he'll let you know when its time.
If hes happy and content for now I wouldn't let him miss any chances to life When he looses his fighting spirit, thats when you'll know and until then you can only do your best to let him be a right nutter.
All my prayers to you both, I can't believe how worried about the HC hams I get You've gotta do it for me Chew

Oh Chewy! Sounds as though X-Ray is the best idea, it's hard having a little one PTS when it comes to it but hopefully it won't. Tell him that Snickers can wait a little longer for his company.

I wish you all the best, we seem to be having so many health problems and losses recently. xxxx

Thanks guys! He's got up for a few minutes, all bright eyed and bushy tailed, before retiring to his boudoir Tried him with a new baby food but doesn't like it, so back to chickeny sludge for him. Reading some of these messages made me well up - I get all tearful when bad things happen to other peoples hams, so you can imagine how bleary eyed and snotty I was leaving the vets hehe.

Will give him a nice quiet night and see how we go in the morning. My friend is picking me up in the morning to take us, and another friend is collecting me later to pick him up. I have so many awesome people around me

Now for my dinner! Completely forgot about eating today until I almost keeled over mixing his medicine in his food haha. x

Chewy is looks like a cuddle monster in that tissue pile. I hope he does make it through the x-ray procedure just fine.

Eurgh. This is tough business.

Chewy just waddled over to his cage door with those big bright eyes and asked to come out, in his own special Chewy way.

I opened the door and helped him climb out. He walked onto my hands had had a very slow walk around me and the sofa. I put his little play tent on the chair and he sat in that resting, before walking through one of his chewtubes. And that was it. That was a five minute play time. He stops every few steps to catch his breath. He is trying so hard, and I can see he wants to climb and scamper, but just can't. He even did a little poop on me, which he never has before.

I offered him chicken baby food and water, and he wouldn't take either. x

Hehe he is! He's been out about 4 times now. Won't leave me alone! Am wondering if I should go to bed, perhaps he will rest more without thinking "Oh, man, look, there's Sam! SAM! SAM! Let's hang out! Want to do something?". He's even having a go at monkey barring to get my attention now. But he sounds an awful lot like Sweep, of Sooty's-sidekick fame. And has no strength. He's walking on his wheel a little, perhaps he is best doing that tonight rather than getting a bit annoyed he can't climb around like normal. That and we've to be up in about 6.5 hours for the vet.

This is tough, trying to decide what is best! I'd be a ghastly parent to actual children!! I took a little video of him clambering out of his cage in case it's our last night. I doubt I'll ever be able to watch it if that's the case though.

I'll make him a little bowl of broccoli and pear baby food and see if he gets anything eaten

All of your kind words have been a big help today. Through the whole thing in fact. Chewy and I thank you millions as we keep saying! x
