Thank you for this post. I never even knew about this illness. How very sad to watch your hamster go through it. Although it looks and sounds like she had a brilliant life!

Bless Snickers for being so brave, and sharing the photos.

Chaucer has been diagnosed with this by our vet last night. To be honest, I saw this post but thought "it can't be that" because she was losing only a little amount of fur and had other symptoms.
The vet thinks that Chaucer has Cushings along with perhaps another illness, thus has given painkillers for her.

Thanks to this post, I am more aware of the signs and will be aware of what is happening and why. I will also try some treatments, as I don't want her skin to get sore.

However, I'm not sure if it will get to that stage (as your post shows your hamster had Cushings for months) as the vet doesn't think Chaucer has very long left )=

Poor hammies, I feel guilt ridden that she is unwell.

Question Re: Stages of Cushings Disease with illustrated pics (inc. treatment)

Can Russian Dwarf (Campbell's) hamsters get Cushing's? That's what the vet diagnosed her with but nothing online says that they can get it. I'm not sure that she was very experienced with hamsters.

Yes they can Gemma's mum as any mammal can. I doubt they are very commonly seen on diagnosed though.

My vet brings it up if he thinks a hamster of mine might have it (all of my hams are dwarfs). For example, he considered Cushings to be a possible contributing factor to Lucy's kidney failure, and as we couldn't do a blood test, it was difficult to confirm.

Cushings is due to an adrenal gland tumor, and all mammals have adrenal glands. A tumor there can certainly shift hormonal balance, cause hair loss, and all sorts of symptoms.
