Default Beapher anti parasite spot on for rabbits???

Hi, I have a russian dwarf hamster called Benji, and he has been scratching quite a bit recently. i have a pipette of beaphar anti-parasite spot on for rabbits and guinea left over from when i treated my rats a month ago. its seems a waste to go buy more of the stuff when i have some here. I was wondering if I could just pour the contents on the pipette into a dish then use a cotton bud to dab a tiny bit on him. Would this be ok?

Here's the troublemaker himself lol

I realy would reccommend going to a vet first to get a diagnosis. I would also only use a product designed for hamsters as you don't know what side effects it could have on them!

Has he been showing any other symptoms of parasites? It might be that a skin scrape is needed to determine what it is and which treatment to use

STOP! The Beaphar products are produced for the weight of that specific animal. The rabbit one is concentrated for much bigger animals. Ivermectin is a nerve agent and could kill a hamster. The Beaphar product for gerbils and Syrian hamsters would be the one you want, but saying that, dwarf hamsters are smaller and weight less, so even one pippette could prove too strong for him.

I would suggest seeing your vet regarding mite treatment because I`ve used the Beaphar stuff on my mice and sometimes it can cause a reaction and makes the itching worse.

If you e-mail Beaphar, they would tell you much the same. I`ve spoken to them by e-mail regarding treating mice with their product and a mouse has to be 50 grams or more to treat it. So please, don`t use anything on your hamster unless he`s actually seen a vet. Better safe than sorry.

He could be reacting to something in his cage even? Carefresh can be a culprit. I hate the stuff!
