Fingers crossed that Honey gets better soon, it sounds like you are doing all you can for her. I was going to suggest the yoghurt as well and yes it is the Bio kind. I own budgies and one of the treatments for an ill bird is to give them weak black tea, or Camomile tea, not sure why but lots of people swear by it!! To be honest I've never tried it myself so have no first hand experience but it is supposed to help until you can see a vet, or want to self treat.

Well, I am from Slovakia and my mum was forcing the black tea down me every time I had upset tummy - that and a tablespoon of Rum. I don't think I'll be feeding it to my hamsters, thou. if any tea, I'd go for the fennel as that helps with digestive problems.
Off to the shops now to get the yogurt before picking my only healthy part of human family from school.

Snickers hated having the Baytril syringed into her mouth so I mixed it in with baby food or porridge and she ate the lot.

I'm hoping so, too! I've just given her the medicine by mouth (poor thing, I had to swaddle her) and then gave her a check over - I'm still worried about her bum opening as that seems to be inflamed to me but the vet said its irritated skin so we will see. she is running a lot and eating well, even her poo is getting into a normal consistency (although it can't be thanks to the meds, as she only had an injection this morning at 9:30 and her first baytrill about an hour ago)

So fingers crossed, that no matter what this little thing that is wrong with her is going to be sorted out by this medication. thanks guys for thinking of us and wishing her well. Honestly, If I didn't have this place, I'd have no one to talk about my furry babies (my husband is already calling my "the crazy hamster lady"

Do keep us updated! And I am glad she seems to be on the mend, let's hope she keeps getting better!

Do give her some yogurt - this is something I didn't do for my hamster the first time she had antibiotics (and when I did buy it for her it was too late ) and I wonder whether that was why she eventually passed away... the yogurt needs to be bio, natural yogurt, unsweetened (though you can sweeten it just a little with some honey). I bought the Onken Natural ones, should have the culture: Bactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum and Streptococcus thermophilus, to help replenish her good gut bacteria.
