She really does need to be seen by a vet, she does sound very poorly. Could you perhaps show your mum this thread, and see if that changes her mind? Its not nice to think of any animal suffering or being in pain, even if they are only small.

Is she eating and drinking ok? How about her pooping and weeing?

Thanks for the encouragement and advice, everyone. I'll try my best to help her, although she is three and a half years old, so it may just be her time :\. I really hope I can pull her out of this illness, however... at least keep her out of pain. I'll talk to my mom some more.

I'm sorry, Thorne. Given her advanced age you may also be seeing an internal tumor or something like that, as you say. If you feel that it's her time you may be able to seek help from your local animal control or emergency vet in having her humanely euthanized. Make sure they use an anesthetic gas prior to the injection if you choose this option. You're mom may be more open to this as it has a fixed cost. Again, I'm sorry you're going through this.

3.5 years old is quite old for a ham! You could try calling an animal clinic and ask what their fee is for looking at your hamster, if money is the issue. Maybe it's not that much for a hospital near you.
