Infection :( (Maybe a sensitive image)
So, I took Scott to the vet today after seeing a weird mark on his face. It turns out he has an infection on the skin but no idea what from (he never fights with Wallace ever). The vet pulled at the scab and it just popped right off! Even she was shocked! I've been given antibiotics to give him and they are to be kept apart for a week or so for monitering and better healing.
Pretty gruesome:
The white bit is a piece of bedding that stuck to it. We've since removed it. His eye also looks sore but we've been assured it's fine, luckily.
Healing thoughts, please?

Hopefully, seeing as he's named after Scott Pilgrim, he'll get another chance? ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif)
I think Wallace misses him, he's sleeping where Scott usually does...

That looks very sore poor little mite ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
Did any pus come out of the wound? It is possible that it was caused by a fight and after a period of separation I think you may not be able to put them back together though as they will lose the scent bond.
How old is he? If is does not heal it could be a tumour. Because it looks deep I imagine it will be affecting the eye and the tear duct too.
I hope he gets better soon. You need to give the meds by mouth and not in the water just in case they said to put in inthe water. Hammies do not get the right dose in water and sometimes do not drink it.

Ouch! That does look sore poor little one. I would be more vigalent on keeping things really clean while he heals up too so as to minimise the chance of infection

Re: Infection :( (Maybe a sensitive image)
Pus did come out at the vet's. There wasn't much and it was cleaned up very nicely. I think I might keep them seperate perminently, or put them together for a day and see what happens (close observation). I'm not sure how old he is. He was given to me and I've not really been in contact with the person I got them from (they weren't properly cared for). The vet said his eye and nose are fine. He's walking fine and he's not acting any different to before at all. I was told to give it in the water. I gave it to him about 5 hours ago and the water's almost completely gone (I know he's diabetic so he drinks a lot. He's on a controlled diet for it).
It's looking a lot better already and he's having a nap at the moment but he's been up on the wheel, eating and drinking so I don't think he's in any distress. I'll be taking a photo everyday to moniter progress (I have a very short memory, I document everything haha), which I'll probably put in this post.
I was told if it's not at least healed in a week (that's how much anti-biotics I've been given) I'm to go back to the vet. I think also it's not as bad as it looks in the photo because the photo is very close-up using flash.
I'm keeping optimistic and babying little Scott.
