Sauron hit his nose
Hello everyone,
just now I let Sauron roam a bit free in the livingroom.
He got excited and started running really fast and before he could slow down, he run into the door and slamed his nose. It was quite an impact. If that was me, I would have had a concusion and a broken nose.
He squealed and frantically rubbed his nose for a few seconds, then he continued to run around as if nothing happened. Right now he is sniffing around the bathroom (so he can still smell!).
I had a look at his nose, I can't see any blood or anything (yet), but I am sure it is painful. I know that hamsters often do not show that they are in pain.
So, I was wondering, what should I do?
Is there a hamster-safe painkiller I can give him so that he doesn't suffer? Should I try to put some ice on it (and how do you put ice on a hamsters nose?) Should I be giving him any particular type of food that would make him feel better?
Should I worry? (Well, I am... I keep thinking he has internal bleeding and that he will colapse all of a sudden).
Finally, is this something that hamsters often do? Do they recover easily? I am kind of hoping that the way hamsters run naturally very fast without really seeing where they go, they would have evolved to be resilient in snout accidents...

Re: Sauron hit his nose
Itll be fine, from experience with my hamsters having injuries they heal quickly. Maybe give him a treat to make him feel better, hamsters do love their food. On a different note, what is it with hamsters and toilets? My Ambers nickname is Toilet and we now shut her out the bathroom

Re: Sauron hit his nose
Thanks for your prompt answer wicked-jester! Re toilets, nothing really, it's just that it is easier to write on the computer and monitor Sauron in the bathroom, that's all (bathromms small and white, Sauron's black and easy to spot). And after hurting his nose, I thouht he would prefer run around than be stuck in his cage, so I let him free roam a bit more.

He was fine though, and has even done it again since
