Honeys top teeth look crooked
Honeys top teeth look crooked - her bottom teeth are fine, she is 18 month old. She has been a bit of a cage biter but has never had this problem before. Does anyone know if they are likely to correct themself or just continue to get worse. And do you think it is down to the cage biting (we are thinking of swapping cage for a plastic one without bars) or her age.

Re: Honeys top teeth look crooked
have they always been crooked, or has she snapped her teeth while bar chewing?
Normally misaligned or wonky teeth shouldn't cause any problems. They just might grow a bit odd and as they aren't lined up they won't wear down properly and may have to be clipped every so often

Re: Honeys top teeth look crooked
Thanks Fluffymunchkins - she has broken her teeth in the past ( we put perspex on bars to stop her chewing) but they grew back fine, this is just something that we noticed a couple of days ago. They are not snapped just starting to look misaligned - she is eating as normal and happy as normal. Her teeth are becoming a deeper orangey as she gets older but we took it this was normal.
If they don't wear down we will have to take her to vets for them clipping but we are really concerned in case she needs an anaesthetic because as friendly as she is , when we tip her up to look she gets really quick and squirmy.

Re: Honeys top teeth look crooked
Porridge is friendly but also very squirmy, but he wasn't put under anaesthetic to have his teeth clipped.
I didn't watch but i'm sure the vets have there 'ways' to hold a hamster still while its done.

Re: Honeys top teeth look crooked
Oh thanks Fluffymunchkins thats put our mind at rest a bit, I know it would only be a quick sniff of anaesthetic but little animals don't always do well with it so it would be a worry - but if the vet can do it then that would be a lot better.
