Re: Sudden Hair Loss
Shes a bit older than Porridge and I've noticed his hair is looking a bit thinner (harder to see as hes long haired). Although the hair loss does sound a bit sudden, any bedding, food or treat changes recently?
Theres loads of possibilities for hair loss, but i'm sure the vet will be able to help pinpoint one.
Wishing the best at the vets x

Re: Sudden Hair Loss
Thank you both for the info.
Nope, no changes at all. Just found a few more scabs on her, mostly around her inner legs and lower back, so not easy places for her to have scratched? It's the sudden-ness of it all that's concerning me a little. As I said though, she's fine in all other aspects.
Thanks, I'll let you know when the appointment is and how everything goes.

Re: Sudden Hair Loss
Thanks everyone, means alot.
Luckily, I sold some gold the other day (Tesco's have a great offer atm ) so I can afford the vets. I mean being too young to get a job, I'm not rolling in money and a consultation is £15 with £15-£20 treatments costs on top!

Re: Sudden Hair Loss
Glad you got some money
But really £15 aswell as more on top for meds?
It cost me £20 at the most for consultation and meds, then £15 the second time i went as it was just a check up and more meds. But i guess every vet is different

Re: Sudden Hair Loss
That's how much it costs for Rabbit Mite treatment so may be less for a Hammy but consultation stays the same. It's the best vet I've found though, the other nearby vet is terrible and charges even more!
Just wondering, if it is mites, could this have passed to my gerbils and winter white?

Re: Sudden Hair Loss
My Vets was £20 for a consultation with no meds etc, she basically just scruffed him and said what could be wrong and that she couldn't do anything..
I dread to think how much it'd be for an op D:
I hope your vets treatment is cheaper, sometimes they're cheaper if you take them with another pet, but I don't know..my old hamster was cheaper when I took it with my dog

This reminds me when the first Cash For Gold adverts came on i sent a ring off as i was curious how it worked.. I got just 7.00.. I was like.. ohh well.. took it to town and came back with Peanut. He cost me 7.00 in the pet store..
I hope she gets better soon..
