Default Diabetes

My hamster tested +++ positive for glucose in the urine which is the highest reading Not really sure what I should do now, trying him on new diet and fenugreek, if that makes no difference I might have to get him pts as he has no quality of life at the minute, not sure how long I should give it though

That is a shame. Poor little one. As I said before you are the best person to decide when his quality of life is too much of a burden for him to bear.

Dont know if this helps, but Babyboos wrote an article about Diabetic hams, maybe you should give it a read and see if there is anything of use?

was very helpful thanks, she also gave me a link to a forum that was good help as well. I guess all I can do is wait and continue with the foods and see if his glucose goes down any. Its a terrible illness to have to watch, and a lot of these hamsters are sold as childrens pets would they even notice if the hamster was diabetic? Im sure most kids give their hamsters a lot of treats and feed just normal hamster food. I just hope my other so far healthy russian doesnt become diabetic as well, he tested negative for glucose in the urine, but have put him on the same diet anyway. I would feel really bad getting the little guy pts, I know hes grumpy and everything but vets know so little about diabetes in hamsters and dont seem to want to know anything its just unfair
