love this thread - great that she is doing so well!
I had two russian hamsters who gave me a scare, they both became ill (two separate occasions) and I thought they were ready to leave. Both survived, one lived a full year longer then the maximum lifespan given in any of my hamster books.
I really hope your new hamster can stay with you for a long time.

She is doing so well, put on a fair bit of weight and enjoying floor and ball time. I can only assume it was a mild stroke or something. Don't know! So happy she is fighting strong. My boyfriend loves her so he hasn't noticed that we actually have six hankies now and this time last year had none! Oooops! Spoken to the teacher and she is more than happy for me to keep her. Yay!
