Unhappy I can't wake my baby up

I found pumpkin about an hour ago (3.30am) he was hunched the corner of his cage. I knew something was up. I got him out and he was cold and limp.

He was still breathing so i got a hot water bottle and tried to bring him round. He walked a little but kept stumbling. His nose twitched with food but he wouldnt drink a droplet from my finger or take any food.

He is so so skinny...my bf said he was monkey barring fine when he went to bed 2 hours ago.

Ive been sat stroking his head the last hour waiting for him to pass but he still hasn't.

Ive made another hot water bottle, tried rubbing him in my hands- with past hamsters this has woken them up-

im in limbo and i hate it.

I want my baby to pass..but then if he is going into hibernation i want to get him out and quick as he is so skinny.

I wish this would all end... most of you are in bed...i just feel so helpless :'(

ok for the last 20 mins i have had him awake and not, then he went very agressive towards me, all wobbly, tail up, teeth bearing.then drifted into sleep again.

I have manged to rouse him with some cheese and he is eating it sloppily...his teeth were cracking noises lots and while he was totally out his top two were black..not overlapping or anything..could this be why he has been loosing weight, he seems to have been eating ok.

Im not sure how this is going to end and it scares me, im doing everything i can think of..just hope someone wakes up soon with some advice

hes eating very slowly with his eyes closed, i dont know if ive done a good thing or bad here :s he's drinking a little from a syringe but his eyes wont open and he keeps drifting off

ok so ive got him wobbling around, eyes still closed but hes eating and pouching seeds....im really tired.i dunno if i should take him back to his cage and leave him be or keep going..my bf has to go for work and im just so tired

sorry to hear this

maybe if you think he's having trouble eating, give him soft foods like porridge and baby food until you can get to a vet?

sorry I can't be much help, hope he gets better soon

Hi Amethyst - from the description you have given it sounds very much as Lilbear was before she passed. She had been fine one day and then not the next. It may be the when climbing - there has been a fall. Or it could be a small stroke. Lilbear showed me her teeth many times in her last hours but hung on for too long and I had to take her to the vet for assistance.

Tell your little one that you love them and that its okay for them to go. Hopefully once known they will be able to take the next step on their own. It is very upsetting to see them like this and if the steps aren't taken then you will need to consider a visit to the vet for a little assistance if it is there time, or medication if it is treatable.

You have probably gone to bed for now and maybe when you wake things will be different. Am thinking of you both and sending you lots of love and healing thoughts.

It may be his time Amythyst Ice and he has waited to say his goodbyes and now the call is too great.
Let him decide now. I hope his path is gentle and his footsteps leave love trails in your heart xx

If it is his time then at least we all know he had the best life possible. You've done all that you can for him, I hope he pulls through.

Oh no, Nat. I really hope both of you are ok, but pumpkin knows best so if it's his time to go, you must let him pass softly and peacefully, how ever hard it may be.
Hope your ok xxxx
