Some cranberry juice in her water will help sooth her urinary tract just like it does with humans

I agree. Cranberry cocktail has been proven to treat UTI`s in mice. I think you can get cranberry juice and/or cranberry cocktail? Also, you can buy fresh cranberries if you can scource them. Health food stores may have the best variety. It may also be worth asking your vet about cranberry incase they have a powdered version that can be added to the drinking water? I don`t know for sure as I`ve never used it myself.
Cranberries have a substance that prevents bacteria from attaching to the bladder wall. Drinking a lot can also help.

WOW, what a great idea, I did not even think of that!! Thank you all so much I will go to the store and get some cranberry juice and try that out, I have been giving her the medicine (which is almost gone!!) and a dose of Pedialyte and then with the medicine tool that the vet gave me I have been putting water in her mouth which she drinks very well, I am concerned with her teeth now as well (and she still is not feeling well), since she has not been feeling well her teeth are becoming extremely long?! She has chew sticks in her cage as well so I am hoping that she is going to start chewing them soon?!
I am so glad that I came across this chat area, you all have very large hearts and it shows through the messages that have been sent to me and my daughter. Thank you again. :P

Hi Carrie. I hope the wee one is recovering with all the care she`s getting! It`s horrible when they fall ill. You feel rather helpless in the quest to get them back on their feet and hope that the medication will work wonders.
She may enjoy some small cut up squares of brown/wholemeal bread, baked in the oven, or under the grill to `crisp` them up? I give these to my mice, gerbils and hamsters and they nibble away at them! Just take a slice of bread, cut it into small 1" inch squares and place them in the grill, much as you would toast. Let them go golden brown and leave them to cool.
Alternatively, you can cut the bread into squares and leave it for a few days to harden. This staling process kills the enzymes in the bread, which can sometimes cause skin reactions in mice, but either way, she should enjoy this!
Also, if using cranberry juice, you might want to also hang a plain bottle of water beside the bottle with the juice in it, just incase she does`nt like it. That way, she will still have plain water to drink.

Well, Sasha has taken a slight turn for the worse, she is now having a bad case of diarrhea and is only storing the fresh veggies that we are giving to her, she still does not want to play, all she does is want to cuddle. Her medicine is almost gone and the vet does not want to see her until all of the medicine is gone, which will most likely be by Monday. We are continuing to give her the cranberry juice and some pedialyte. We are still having to hold her while we feed her some water, but she is drinking, I am hoping the diarrhea is just her way of getting the bad stuff out?! I will let you all know, thank you for the thoughts!!

Oh dear I am so sorry to hear about Sasha. Hamsters are such fragile little creatures and she is having a hard time of it. I do not think the vet should refuse to see her if you are worried she is worsening. I feel there must be something going on in there that is not right. Is her tummy still swollen? Is it definite diarrhoea and not a discharge from her vent? I would ask the vet to check other areas such as for lumps and to check the uterus (womb) area for pyometra. I am thinking of you and know how powerless you feel and know the heartbreak. I hope she recovers.

Thank you, I am calling the vet as we speak to see if there is something that can be done, I am thinking that it is diarrhea, it looks like it to me and my sister?!
