Default Hello again :) Bit of help possibly needed xD

Hey all
Some of you might remember me from a while back when i bought my first hamster humbug, who is doin really well (and has grown alot haha)

But today i wanna ask about dwarf hamsters, my girlfriend went and got 2 winter whites yesterday and they are stupidly cute! While i was with her i bought a new cage called Abode Hamster Home (apparently something to do with a website called coopet.co.uk who sell new cages in pets at home - worth a look!) It looks like this

Now what im wondering is - should i get 2 Roborovski's, or 2 Chinese Dwarves? Which is friendlier? I know rob's are smaller so handling will take longer etc. but was wondering if anyone had any past experiences they could share

Cheers guys!

Matt

ive had 2 robos before. soooooo cute, but not so easy to tame. chinese are generally friendlier, but you could watch robos for hours! i would also reccomend that you buy 2 cages incase they begin to fight ( it happened with mine and i was un-prepared
)

This post is probably gonna sound like a bit of a downer but please just read it all the way through first.

Its great to have more than one hamster because they play together and are ubber cute however you have to think really hard about it because if they fight you will have to seperate them if so can you afford that?

If you do the cage in your first post might not be big enough you'll need a cage big enough for two wheels one for each hamster which tends to stop fighting. but still be prepaired for the worst. It probably would be big enough for robos but not sure about chinese hamsters.

I hope my post hasn't put you off because having two can be so rewarding!

wow how weird I'm currently living in Burslem atmo

thats terrible I hate people who just dump their pets outside places to be taken in at least have a big enough pair to give them to a member of staff.

I mean it happened to my hammies they'll share the playpen but I just can't house em together anymore I seperated them before any damage was done and it was small fights and displays of dominance which you will see quite quickly.

Robos are great but if you want to be able to handle them are not the best to get to be honest. They are very skittish little fellas

What kinda spair cage do you have hun?

hello swingm, i certainly remember you

First off, i feel two robos would be better off with a bigger space in my own opinion( the smaller the space the more likely fights break out)! A robo can live on their own perfectly happy, although its nice for them to have company, like others say a suitable spare cage and prepartion is needed

Chinese hamsters although not strictly solitary, females cannot live together and with males it isn't worth the risk as only rare cases with experienced chinese owners work.

Robos take patience and a calm hand to tame, but once a bond is built they are highley rewarding. Chinese hamsters are also said to be shy.

Im in Tunstall lol ^^ small world!
anyways, i think im gonna go with a single dwarf hamster now. The fighting really worries me and with me bein at uni and the such i might not be at home to seperate them :/
If the store still has the robo's for adoption ill end up with one of them. I'll just feel really mean for leaving the others :/

Thank you all for the replys i'll be sure to take pictures and the such when i go and get him/her.
