Default Screening potential adopters

I am considering rehoming one of my hamsters via gumtree. What are some things I should check about potential adopters? I know that I should check on what cage and wheel she will have, whether there are small kids, etc. But I think I am just concerned because I don't necessarily believe that people will tell the truth. I'm afraid that they will tell me what i want to hear to get the hamster. any advice, maybe from rescues?

Thank you

Why do you need someone to adopt one of your hams?

I'm not a rescue but how about you doing home checks? That way you can see where your ham will be living and if its suitable, if the people are serious about adopting your ham, they should be fine with this. I know this is what rescue places do with dogs, cats etc..i'm sure more experienced people on here will give advice...but hope this helps

Thats a good idea Stella - we had a home check from the RSPCA before adopting our kittens, so its not unheard of, and as you say, if they are genuine they wont mind at all.

I think a home check is a good idea!
Also have you thought about putting your ham on here for rehoming?
