Default Need advice from anyone with a hamster playpen..

Just ordered a hamster playpen today now thinking was it such a goood idea as ive heard they escape alot! anyone got one?

Lots of people have these and yes they generally escape really easily! Personally I don't bother as mine much prefer exploring a room! As long as you supervise the Ham it's fine

He can climb straight out - and he is a tiiiny syrian! I have seen someone who has taped paper to the inside though so they can't just climb out. We were just talking about taking Chewy in the garden in it at the weekend if it is nice out. Obviously, supervised all the time.

I have a couple I got from tesco for £5 each, at first I thought it was a bargain as it's loads cheaper than the others however Snickers is a big ham so easily jumps right over it. She prefers to free range the room or go in the bath (when it's empty)

i have a play pen and i also have hams that took about 2 seconds to work out how to climb over it lol

i put the lids from those plastic storage boxes on the top and it seems to work

I love our playpen. but yes, they do climb out. you have to sit there and watch them every second, and if you see them climbing on the bars, gently grab them and place them back inside the pen. if they keep doing it, they're bored and you should let them take a run in their ball or go back home. We use ours all the time though
