Question Any tips for feeding wet food to hamsters?

I have 2 hamsters, Pebbles my Chinese hammy and Bandit my long haired syrian. I like leaving a little dish of "soup" (veggie baby food) out for my hammies to pick at through the day, but I dont know how I can leave a little dish of it in my long haired syrian hamsters cage without him getting covered in it. I've not had any experience with long haired hammies before but just by watching him for the past few days he seems kinda jumpy and will sometimes run through his water bowl so I don't want the risk of him doing it to his "soup" either because I have no idea how I'd clean him if he needed it... Any ideas?

Could you make soup time part of your bonding time with him? So he only has the dish while you're interacting with him? It might help him associate the time he spends while you're talking to him as treat time.
