Exclamation Freak accident, hamster walking funny?!!

Hi all,

I feel sick to my stomach posting this but my hamster freaked out and fell onto a hard surface today, not from very high but still worrying. Once she landed, she was lay on her side and struggled to get up for about 5-10 seconds, and then after this walked completely fine. I immediately put her back in her enclosure and watched for any changes in behaviour but couldn't see any at all, she was her normal self. I will obviously be keeping a very close eye on her and she won't be coming out of her enclosure until I know all is well.

Just wondering if it's worth seeing a vet about this? I just want the best for my girl and this is the first time she's ever hurt herself and hopefully the last, it's an awful feeling.

Hi there ! In my opinion its nothing to worry about until there is a major bone damage (it's rare), I once had a hamster which used to jump from several things as he was a curious one but he never had any injury or something. Hamsters don't have a good eyesight so they sometimes tend to jump even unintentionally.
Pls keep an eye on her ,specially check if there is bleeding in leg. Though it wont happen at all ,so dont worry

what type of hamster is she?
from personal experience I've learned through the years that Syrians and Robos are great at falling... my robos jumped out of my hands a couple times and were fine, and my extremely curious and energetic Syrian often climbed up to high surfaces and jumped down before I realized, and she was completely fine so you should be good.
If something is wrong, pretty much the only thing to do is pain meds so if you're concerned she's in pain, maybe bring her to the vet and ask if she can have some pain meds until she finishes healing.
