Default Hamster and domestic mice

Hi, to all. I and my 2 boy Robos (6 months). live on the ground floor, with access to a garden.
Recently, we have been visited by mice. The owner's pest control came and put down baits. It has worked. Next step is to a technician to come and plug all the possible holes of access/egress.
But, last night, I saw the smallest possible mouse INSIDE Benny's cage. Obviously, looking for food. I scared him away and he escaped, as they do through the wires.
I put down on the floor, round pads of cotton with a few drops on peppermint oil.
Any advice would be appreciated.

You must stop them getting in the cage. They can carry diseases and mites that could be transferred to your hamster. Can you move the cage to another room?
I'd inform them you are still seeing mice in the house but don't mention the hamster and ask them to sort that out. They are seeking the easiest source of food.

Many thank. The technician has been here three times and is aware of the hamsters. The next week a technician is coming to plug all the holes. In the meantime, they pu down a new bait, so that should eradicate the squatters. I can check if they are still here, by putting just couple of nuts on the floor before I go to bed.
