Default Hamster and domestic mice

Hi, to all. I and my 2 boy Robos (6 months). live on the ground floor, with access to a garden.
Recently, we have been visited by mice. The owner's pest control came and put down baits. It has worked. Next step is to a technician to come and plug all the possible holes of access/egress.
But, last night, I saw the smallest possible mouse INSIDE Benny's cage. Obviously, looking for food. I scared him away and he escaped, as they do through the wires.
I put down on the floor, round pads of cotton with a few drops on peppermint oil.
Any advice would be appreciated.
