Default Cage Questions

Hi. I am making a care guide to go along with my rescue and have decided on some higher minimum cage sizes. As a result, I don't want to rehome any Syrian into an enclosure that has less than an internal measurement of 100x50cm. I was just wondering if anyone knew the internal dimensions (not outer) of the following enclosures:

Laola Nagarium
Jungle Pet Glass Tanks
Happy-Nager
Living World Eco Large
Barney
Alexander
Borneo XL
Mamble 100
PawHut
SAVIC PLAZA
MAXI DUNA
MARRAKESH
ZOOZONE 2

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Personally I wouldn't put a Syrian in a zoozone as they're not tall enough. An 11" wheel just fits as the cage is only ~40cm tall. For a dwarf hamster it's fine (as long as the roof of meshed properly).

Internal dimensions are tricky as it tapers. At the widest point where I normally fill the substrate to, is just shy of 100x50 at something like 96x46.

I've not hade the mamble but it's quite tall so it may need a few adjustments to make it safer for hamsters as it's designed as a rat cage. Something animal on YouTube did a review of it when it came out and I think the internal dimensions are on there.

I imagine the maxi Duna is the same as the ZZ2.

Savic Plaza is about the 98x48cm. Barney and Alexander are about the same.

Marrakesh is just below as well.

Living world Large is 115x49cm so take a few cms off that which would be the thickness of the ply and perspex. But it does make up for it in height.

You may want to talk to other rescues as more and more are requiring people to have 120x50/60cm cages for Syrians, especially females.

I have already decided 100x50cm internal would be the bare minimum for the Syrians I take in, and had to turn a lovely girl down the other day as she’d gotten a Zoozone 2. Have made note in the document about the need for more space for females. Ultimately, I will know the hamster before rehoming and can understand when and where a cage would be appropriate

I don’t think I’ll be changing my minimums to 120x60cm any time soon, but definitely something to look at in the future. Will see how this 100x50cm internal measurement minimum goes down first!

I’ve seen the Mamble be good when using acrylic borders or boredom breakers across the bars, meaning bedding can be much higher.
