when it comes to cleaning, if I know where Comet my robo is sleeping I can manage to do most of his cage without disturbing him, but if he's out and about or comes up to investigate I just put him either in a travel carrier with a hide some food and some cucumber for hydration or just use a small storage bin and set him up there with a couple of hides, maybe his wheel and food and water source. This tends to be more when I do a big clean, for example I had a horrible stench once and couldn't work out where it was coming from and had to take everything out. Turns out he had started to pee in a cork log, so I just had to saw the bottom of that off and learnt my lesson not to submerge anything into the bedding that had a porous bottom.

Thank you for replying. It is really good you know were Comet sleeps. I have no idea were Orko sleeps. Oh dear, it cannot have been nice when he did a wee in the cork log!

I don't always know where he is sleeping - he has 4 or 5 spots - process of elimination sometimes

I can't remember why, but pretty early on when I got him, I needed to find him - maybe a vet visit - not sure now, anyhow, I basically had to take the whole cage setup apart, for him to just stick his little nose out right at the last thing I was lifting to try and find him. The whole cage was trashed, bedding included - got to love them

Everyone already gave you great advice. I found out the hard way with Pearl I did her first spot clean way too soon. She didn't need it, and let me know she was unhappy. Her tantrum was something to see, she made sure I saw it: Angry Pearl

Oh dear. She looks like somebody pulled the duvet off her when she was trying to sleep! This is why I wanted to spot clean when Orko is awake. It would just be really difficult without light.

I wouldn't risk the wrath of a Robo.

Naw, she was just very upset in the morning when she finally realized I cleaned her bathroom spot. Pearl was amazing, without fail she always wanted to say hi in the morning. She'd normally look around for me like this the second she heard me.

Not the morning after I cleaned her spot, she waited until I was up and made sure I saw her kicking around her bedding. When I tried to give her treats that night, she rejected them and just smacked them down with her paws.

That video is so precious. Your bond was amazing. I like how she made sure you saw her kicking her bedding.
