Re: Heatwave
I’m thinking similar and have popped a fan on in the room which is standing up high and at a good distance from his cage, just to keep some air movement. Hams has come out of his shoebox nest and is fast asleep in one of those extendable tubes, not sure it’s ideal, but I kinda like that I can peep in and see him. It’s a medium size and is not massively extended so he’s got some air flow, he’s looking ok. Hope all the other Hamsters / pets / wildlife are too. I’ve left extra low level water trays under bushes in the garden as we have quite a lot of frogs about. Will check they are not warming up in a bit.

Lol. It is funny how animals know when we want to take a picture.

It must be really nice to be able to see Hams sleeping. I would love to know how Orko sleeps.

He doesn't normally mind but it was his melon and no one else was having it so he quickly moved it out of sight.

Jack is sleeping in his wicker tunnel so i can peek in from the side of the cage. A couple of times i've been faced with a huge yawn.
I've never seen a Robo sleep either, only napping on their wheels. Is Orko's tank glass allround?

How cute to see Jack yawning.
The front of Orko's cage is glass and there is a watch tower so I can see him under the bedding but he has never used it. Interesting you have not seen a robo sleep. They must prefer to sleep underground.

Re: Heatwave
How's everyone coping? Thermometer outside in the shade is reading 40.5°C. inside is staying at a cool 26.5°C so quite pleased with that.

Definitely. They use their house like a porch leading to their underground bedroom.
I've switched the fan up but Clive moved into his house and Jack out of his wicker tunnel. He's inside a heap of substrate i think. They don't seem to like a cooling breeze so fan back on slow motion.
Got a feeling that we are a lot more bothered or concerned than the hamsters are. They just want to be left in peace to sleep.

I think you may be right there. I have actually noticed many small animals dislike fans. The air must not feel right to them.

26.5 indoors is great. It is 28.5c indoors here.
