Default Is this toy safe

Icicle has decided sheís obsessed with this wooden ball from a toy. She chewed it off its string and I, always being paranoid, am worried she could choke on it

She canít fit it in her mouth, but she can open her mouth just wide enough to hold onto it and Iím sure she can chew it down to a smaller size

Every time she sees it she picks it up and wonít put it down until itís back in her cage with her, but once itís in her cage she just leaves it in the corner

Itís from a toy made for hamsters and it has a small hole going through it

Hmm. She may be trying to pouch it - and might succeed. I think personally I'd take it away. Mean I know - maybe give her another wood chew.

Remove it. If she tries to carry it and gets her incisors stuck in the holes it will be a nightmare to remove.

Agree. You could give her a willow or seagrass ball instead.

My hamster did something similar to this with a wooden ball that was hanging on a chew toy, I removed it also as was concerned he may try to pouch it.
