Default Do dwarfs actually get lonely?

Hello,
my dwarf hamster has been living alone for a year, but today I went to the pet store and I was looking at dwarf hamsters and there were six of them in the same cage.
A syrian hamster was all alone. He kind of looked cute. He had no wheel or anything either, which made me sad.
I've never owned hamsters before, but I've read that they are solitary animals. Does the same go for the dwarfs? He's all alone. Is it okay that he's all alone?
