Re: Introducing Orko
I think Orko may have pouched some tissue. This is the first time I have seen him do this. The video starts with him about 30 seconds in.

Re: Introducing Orko
Yes, he must have been working on his nest last night.
I filled a small hide with torn into strips, plain white toilet paper (very popular with hamsters) yesterday in Robo Finley's tank. This morning half of it had gone so he must have used it for nesting.

I would love to see what Orko has done under the bedding.
How sweet Finlay used half the paper.

Re: Introducing Orko
It sounds like Orko is really settling in and gaining in confidence . Hamsters can be very contrary! Half a mealworm in the right place ok. Whole mealworm in the wrong place not ok
I used to put the treats in different parts of the cage anyway, with our first hamsters, who was a hideaway hamster a lot - to get him to venture out and use the whole cage, which worked well. So his veg used to be in a sputnik on the opposite side of the cage from his food! And another treat on a little dish somewhere else. It's a bit like training them - they keep going to the same places, expecting the daily veg/treat.

Haha I am beginning to learn that.
That was a good idea of yours to get the hamster to explore.

Re: Introducing Orko
Orko is getting braver and exploring more. I got some cute footage from last night. You have to look at the left corner to see him.

Re: Introducing Orko
I just caught up on these, and love the one where Orko is pouching bedding. He looks like he's slowly picking out furniture and thinking of where to put it. Hoping he continues to come out more and you guys get to spend some quality time together.
I 100% agree with Serendipity's advice. I've had huge success with both hams I've owned coming for treats in the same corner, especially on a routine. They learn quickly to associate that area of the enclosure and the big scary hand with treats and fun!
