The 9in Silent Runner is an excellent wheel for a Robo and doesn't get jammed because the design prevents it from leaning backwards, if that is what's happening with the Tic Tac wheel.

I had another look at your set up and couldn't really see anything that would concern me.

Btw, did you know that Robos are able to jump?

The camera works well. Looking forward to see more of Orko who must be loving his new home.
The wheel does turn but I do not think it shows on the camera. He uses it for about a minute at a time. I thought he may need to get used to it but I can swap it for the silent runner.

I did not know Robo's can jump. Does this mean I need to place items lower down? Thank you for the tips.

I have made a few changes and added the silent runner and more bedding. Does this look okay?

No, you don't need to place things lower down. I only mentioned that Robos can jump so it wouldn't take you by surprise should it happen. It took me by surprise.

My first Robo Gordon jumped up in the air when i handled him the first time and a foster Robo jumped over a log.

I didn't see the Tic Tac wheel turning which could be down to my eyesight, sorry.

Your set up looks great and i wouldn't change things while he's settling in unless you think something is unsafe of course.

Can he reach his water bottle comfortably? If not, you may have to put a flat stone or something there for him to sit on.

It's perfectly normal to worry at first, especially as a new hamster parent.

I am glad you warned me as I would have had a shock too! No, please do not apologise. Looking at the footage, I think Orko is struggling to use the Tic Tac wheel so I have swapped it for the Silent Runner.

He can reach his water bottle well and drinks often. It is on the multi chamber hide. One thing I learned is he is eating his sprays, which is nice.

I agree it is best not to make changes while he is settling. I just felt the hide would be dangerous so moved it. I hope the changes are okay.

Thank you. I am very protective over my sweet boy.

Looks good. From one of your previous photos it looked like the water bottle was a bit too high. If you cant lower it, try adding a rock underneath like ria suggested or add a pile of bedding and just make sure its still there everyday.

I will do that. He has a water bowl but he does not seem to have used it. I was thinking of putting the bowl near the water bottle but remembered you said some hamsters are afraid of water bowls. Thank you for the tips.

All hamsters here have a bottle and a bowl. I prefer to have two water sources in case one fails.

I place a pebble or glass marble (too big to pouch) inside the Robo's bowls so they can't fall in.

They use both but have preferences. Haven't met a hamster yet who is afraid of a water bowl.

Oh really? I have the Niteangel water bowl on the other side. It has a little mountain peak design to prevent a hamster from going inside. I will try and put the water bowl on the chamber hide.

Two of Cosmic's hamsters have been afraid of water bowls so I was concerned.

My boy loves his niteangel water bowl. There’s really no harm in leaving it in there, as as you know that mountain design means there’s little chance of drowning. My boy switches around day to day what he prefers using, but I always leave it full as I’m very skeptical about the niteangel bottle. The ball bearings get stuck sometimes and don’t release water the way they should... water is so important so always good to have multiple sources to ensure they can always access it. Before coming to me there’s probably little chance in Otto having been in contact with a water bowl, but it seems like they’re able to work it out straight away, like babies learning to use a straw. I wouldn’t put the bowl near the bottle, unless you want to get him used to it first & learn how to drink from it as it’s good to keep the sources at different ends of the cage so water is always near. The bowls are quite large though so for a tiny robo i can see why there might be an issue. Otto can hoist himself over the edge but Orko may not be as lucky. Maybe try with a tealight holder first to make it easier for him to learn what to do with a bowl?

It does depend on the individual hamster like with a lot of things.

Our Syrian Henry was alive at the same time as our Robo Gordon. Henry loved porridge so i gave Robo Gordon a tiny bowl of porridge one day. Big mistake.

Gordon jumped into the bowl and from there he jumped into his sandpit rolling around trying to get the porridge off!!

He spent the next hour washing and grooming.
