I’ve noticed Hams has been using his wheel less in this heat, probably just too hot. I was up in the night last night and he was asleep in a cardboard tube in his main cage area where as he’s normally pottering around.

Nice to have both water options in this heat. Perhaps I should pop a small bowl in for Hams however, I did notice that the last water bottle I brought (I’ve one either side of his cage) definitely dispenses water much quicker than my old one and he drinks from it more often.

Yes, i think they pretty much self regulate in the heat, drink more, appreciate a small piece of cold water melon or cucumber during the day and rest more. Even hyperactive Clive had a nap in his sand jar between wheeling last night.
They are quite sensible which is the reason i'm not overly worried for the next couple of days.

It is good Hams is drinking well. If you have a tealight holder then you could try that as a water bowl. I have seen people use them as hamster water bowls.

Re: Introducing Orko
Orko was very busy in the early hours. He is on the left side at the start. I am curious as to why he always moves bedding about by the wheel. I wonder what he is doing there.

It doesn't matter what you put the wheel on, substrate or sand, a Robo will dig. If you ever find the answer to your question then please let me know it.

I will do. What he does not realise is, he is moving all the bedding from beside his multi chamber house and he then gets nervous to step off it as the bedding is not high enough. I have already topped it up twice.

You could lean a little ramp against the house or put a bendy bridge there.
