I've never tried a red light bulb but may be worth a try, providing the light is far enough away and not shining directly onto the cage.

Thank you. Do you mean I could get an infrared type of light?

Potentially, but that's still not a guarantee necessarily since it's hard to say for sure if you're getting authentic infrared that's actually low enough on the spectrum to make that difference.
The best thing you can do with any sort of light you end up using is use them for short periods of time only as needed.

Re: Introducing Orko
Orko likes chicken! I bought dried chicken especially for hamsters. He ate it.
Last night he used his dig box multiple times. This is the first time I have seen that. He did not use his sand. Maybe he chooses one or the other.

I didn't know of dried chicken especially for hamsters. Where did you get it?
At last there's something to bribe him with.

just wanted to let you know, when I first got my hamsters, they barely used any parts of their cage and now they use almost everything. I think part of it is that they were new and shy and don't want to venture out so much, and part of it is that they are tiny, especially robos, and it takes a while to discover everything. even now, when I add something new to their cages, they often ignore it at first but a few weeks or even months later, it can easily be their favorite part. I'm sure with time Orko will be using many more items in his cage

Thank you. That is good to know. Orko is my first hamster so all this is new to me.
