It's like Rory last night. He chewed the bars to let me know that he wants out so i let him out. And what does he do? He goes in the sandpit on the floor to have a sleep.

Another thing Robos do when hopping in and out of their wheels is to suddenly go flat, for a rest i guess. Or they half hang out of their wheel.

Have you already noticed that Robos like chaos and almost bulldoze their homes? This morning Scottie's HH looked like an earthquake had struck. Even his little house was loopsided. Maybe Orko is different. Time will tell.
Interesting to know hamsters do that.

Oh gosh! That is so funny Rory wanted to go out to sleep in his sandpit.

Yes! That is what Orko does. I wondered if he was resting as he was hot. He loves his wheel more then anything.

Orko has not bulldozed so far. He wanted to move a seagrass chew but was not strong enough. I did not realise he would not be able to move that. He is stating to use his sand more. I put a bowl of flowers in his cage yesterday but he avoided that.

Haha, I wondered what Scottie was up to last night.

Watching the footage of Orko from last night I saw there was a time he could not go round in his wheel. It was sad to see him trying to run in it. He kept going away and then trying. Luckily it was only for about 30 minutes and he managed to get it to work again. I wonder if some bedding stopped it from running. I have to have bedding around it as he is too small to get inside the wheel without the bedding.

He is avoiding us as once my partner got up at 5AM Orko went away again.

Wheels can get jammed by substrate. For that reason i placed Finley's and guest Robo's wheel inside a cardboard box with a thin layer of woodchips. I find that wood chips work better under a wheel than Kaytee. A lot of people are opposed to wood chips but i think they are fine around wheels and sand pits.

I don't think he's avoiding you as such, he's just being a Robo.

This morning Scottie came to the front looking for a mealworm when he saw me and stayed around for ages.

A couple of hours later i came into the room and he run off at top speed because he got spooked.

Robos are a little unpredictable.

how about a little bendy bridge but laid flat - will that help him get into his wheel?

Thank you Ria. This is a great tip. I wonder if aspen would be suitable as he has some in his dig box. Annoyingly I got rid of the beech chips as he did not seem to like them.

Aww, I am pleased he is not avoiding us and it is just robo behaviour. How cute Scottie came to look for a mealworm.

Thank you for the tip. I never thought of that. I wonder if the gaps would be an issue if the bridge is laid flat.

I put his wheel in the sand box. I thought I could put his other wheel out in case he ever wanted to give it a go. My partner thinks this is silly and he does not need two wheels. Could you all tell me if this is a good idea? If not, I will remove the Tic Tac.

Not silly at all. It's called variety and hamsters like that too.
I'd add a flying saucer as well, if you have the space.

I spent some time with Orko this morning. I find it funny how he does not acknowledge me at all. He does not look at me or show any interest. He just carries about his business. When he first came out last night he did not realise his Silent Runner had moved to the sand box and he tried using the Tic Tac wheel. He can use it for about a minute at a time but then stops. I am hoping he may keep trying and end up using it as it is much quieter then the Silent Runner.
