I know my brother did a biomed degree and I can’t say how often his lessons were. But because of Covid like mine all his went online so he could do it from home. He actually left the flat he was staying at and returned home to save money and went in a couple days a week for ‘labs’. I think he was the same as me though where you do these for like 6 weeks then you just focus on doing the write up so you could do the work all from home again.

I'm guessing the OP may have already signed up for halls of residence for the first year. In my old University they could only live in for the first year then had to find private shared rentals in the second and third year although sometimes allowed to live in again in the last year with final exams etc.

A lot to think about!

I work in university and also went there myself so I am quite well versed in the many aspects of uni life!

Most halls I know won't allow pets minus a guide dog.

There are also other rules such as no candles, incense sticks, overnight visitors (without manager permission), no children.

I would always encourage everyone to follow their halls of residence rules as they risk being expelled..however.. I shall leave the above rule examples for you to decide how strictly some of the rules are followed.

With anywhere you pay rent, at least 24hour written notice must be provided before they enter the property.

I rented privately and had permission from the landlord but my friends in halls and other houses didn't have permission...I often had overnight furry visitors with just a days notice...

While I fully apprciate the costs of halls and living away from home, uni is so much more and it is the best time to meet people, try new hobbies and gain independence. Trust me, once you are out of the uni environment, it is much harder to meet people in general!

I don't know how old your hamster is, if they are on the older side I'd suggest leaving them at home if your parents are happy to care for them. If you can't take them to uni and they are young, then rehoming may be the kindest option. Even rehoming with a friend can be a nice way to still be in your pets life.
