“The RSPCA believes the traditional husbandry method of keeping rabbits permanently confined in small hutches is totally inappropriate for the long-term housing of rabbits kept as pets.”

“ Your rabbits’ hutch must be attached to a run with plenty of space for your rabbits to run, jump, sit/stand upright, exercise and express normal rabbit behaviors.”

They don’t really encourage hutches at all but if you were to use them to attach a play pen. It’s like a whole other world of how pet stores get information wrong for rabbits just like they do for hamsters XD

I wonder why the RSPCA doesn't take action to update the information on hamsters as well as rabbits.

The unmissable signs up in a well known pet shop chain couldn't be any worse. A child holding a hamster, dwarfs like to live in groups and a picture of a Syrian in a hamster ball. Absolutely appalling! And then there's the rest.

Why the RSPCA ignores this, i do not understand.

The 'hutch is not enough' song makes me cry. I could only listen to it once. I rescued a rabbit from terrible neglect. In my opinion, no rabbit should ever live in a hutch. Mine free roamed. Rabbits need as much space as a cat or dog would.

Going by what is said on social media it is often thought because the RSPCA struck up a deal with a certain big pet shop, and around that time they also removed the recommended size of hamster cage they used to quote. So, whilst the RSPCA as a corporation won't say cage size anymore the actual individual RSPCA shelters adopting out hamsters will.
