Re: Need a slogan
Oh my days! That did make me laugh the four eared Syrian! Absolutely agree, Ria you could probably just have a sticker of certain amazon photoshopped images vs the reality and that would be enough to teach people XD I don’t understand the editing of them because when people receive the product you just KNOW they’ll be disappointed.

Re: Need a slogan
Lol! A four eared and a shrunk hamster, whatever next. I wouldn't have seen that because i've stopped using Amazon a couple of years ago.
I bought a 10in wheel in a local, independent pet shop which is a good wheel but made in China. It stated that it's for hedgehogs, guinea pigs and hamsters! The shop owner had to go through all the boxes to cross out the guinea pigs. I think manufacturers haven't got a clue of the purpose of their goods.

Re: Need a slogan
With the "let me out" slogan and the hamster ball I would worry people might just see it as a joke.
I think the most impactful messaging is a comparison of a typical pet shop cage and what hamsters really need. A rabbit welfare organisation has the slogan "a hutch is not enough" which I think is really good.
In fact perhaps the most effective way is to compare what a small hamster cage would be like proportionally for a human. E.g like living in a walk-in cupboard. And a small wheel could be compared to an adult trying to ride a children's bike!

That's also an interesting view and food for thought.
The trouble is that the misuse of hamster balls is so common that it's the norm. I still think that Lilafernim's It's dangerous, not cute would get the message through. I wonder if replacing the word dangerous with cruel would have even more of an impact. Then again, would i have the right to accuse people of animal cruelty....better stick to dangerous i think.

Re: Need a slogan
Four eared hamster made me laugh too! I'm not sure about the phrase "size matters" as I think people would see that as a rude joke as well.
Off the top of my head all I can think of is
"I'm a pet, not a toy"
"Hamsters need love and a human buddy"
"I'm fragile don't squeeze me"

Re: Need a slogan
I think it is really hard to come up with a short slogan that says it all. Like in all honesty if I didn’t know what I do know about rabbits, even a hutch is not enough I’d probably take it as they need extra enrichment or more time in a play pen. Not that they can’t live in a hutch as a permanent placement.
A lot of slogans I think are impactful sometimes because people already know the background to it, like “a dog is not just for Christmas” is a very clear message. But they’d still be people in the world who would think, oh I’m sure they’re not that hard to take care of! Because it comes from a rescue which shows the massive amounts of dogs left rejected and harmed, it makes people also think of the importance of the care those people have to do if this person was to fail. It adds to the urgency knowing the background of the slogan.
The only thing I thought you could do, is maybe even add this website URL to the bottom of anything you make. That way if people don’t fully understand they might look this up and then understand.
I like the try riding a children’s bike one and also I’m fragile don’t squeeze me. They’re both very clear and punchy but has a serious message behind them.

Re: Need a slogan
It is very difficult to condense it into one short sentence but i got a lot of inspiration from the replies on this thread.
To add this website is an excellent idea but would need to be cleared with the owner of Hamster Central.
In fact, Hamster Central car stickers would be a good idea but i don't know if those exist for purchase.
I have seen the a hutch is not enough sticker in the car of a lady who adopted a Robo from me.
I wasn't sure how to interpret it and thought it meant that a rabbit needs more space than a hutch like a big playpen or afreeroaming area.
What exactly is it trying to say?

Re: Need a slogan
From the short period of time I owned a rabbit, I think a lot of people keep rabbits permanently in hutches. Which isn’t unreasonable to presume they can live in them. According to RSPCA though if you have them in a hutch it has to be open onto a playpen area but most people just have a large playpen or free roam there rabbits like the dogs or cats in their house. They most definitely can not live in a cage, they need to have A LOT of space.
It could also be because some people keep them in hutches outside in winter which is a massive no no. But I think it’s referring to space.
And I did think that as well with the website and originally was going to suggest making a website. But you have this one already with a wealth of knowledge and a whole community of people it’s perfect for them. But I wouldn’t even know who to message to find out if it’s okay.
