So nice that Ralph is so social and likes to be handled, he sounds great fun

Re: Peculiar habits
this thread cracks me up!
our hamsters are actually pretty normal but Dusty, my Campbell's hamster, is a funny little guy. he refuses to walk on top of his bedding, always needs to be burrowing. even in areas with more shallow bedding, he does his best to squeeze himself underneath. its pretty hilarious to watch the fluff moving as he crawls under it, but he was a hamster born to swim apparently!
he also acts like he's starving and will stuff his cheeks with whole sunflower seeds without even opening them, but then he wont eat anything else i offer him! he'll only eat his regular food from his food bowl but will grab those sunflower seeds from my hand. sometimes i wish i can be in his little head just for a few minutes and see what goes on in there....

Haha, that reminds me of my foster dwarf Jim who dived off a shelf headfirst to cross the cage under the substrate to get to the mealworm in my fingers. He could easily have walked across along another shelf.

Re: Peculiar habits
so I've just found out that our Syrian hamster Daisy thinks she's a cat. I literally have to proof my entire bedroom when I let her free roam, because she climbs EVERTHING!
the other day she climbed halfway up my curtains!! she'll climb up my 3 other hamster cages and then walk across all the roofs, she even climbs inside my laundry bin!
its pretty entertaining to watch her free roam!

Wow! Daisy sounds super active and a lot of fun to watch, what a climber. Our Hamster enjoys a little walk along the top of his cage They are all so adorable.
