Maybe I should print out your post and read it to my hamster. I will start by saying 'Cinnamon Bun these wormies you have to eat...' then I'll read off what you said about their nutritional value and their texture relates to a twig. She chews on her apple twigs, so she can chew on this dried worm too.

For that reason you're meant to snap their heads off before feeding them to a hamster.
Gross, i stick to dried and freeze them for a week to avoid additional protein in the shape of weevils.

Those I save for me.
Dipped in flower and egg batter then deep fried.
They're a tasty treat and one way to get rid of them before they turn to seed.
