Exciting news!
Omg I am so excited rn! I have been following the litter we got to pick from on the breeders fb site and we got asked what color we wanted and if we where fussy about the sex. We could choose between Rust, Dove and Campagne color. And we said we where happy to house both male and female. And whatever color was available but that we loved the Dove and Champagne color after she sent pics of them.
Well I just talked to the breeder and we are getting a champagne colored boy! He is due to pick up next friday!!!
My son has already named him Shaun after a funny episode of Bluey on Disney+ which we all enjoy.
I have put up the cage , ordered more equipment and toys. And me and my son made a foraging toy using an old egg carton and some string.
We are very happy that Shaun will be moving in with us, especially since he is one of three who survived of a litter of 12 because the others developed bloated belly syndrome. Safe to say he will be a pet only hamster and will be SO loved <3

I have this grainy pic of him from the breeders video xD It was way better quality but having to resize it made it super blurry.

Re: Exciting news!
You must be counting down the days until you can collect him. I looked up the different colours you described as I had not heard of them. I used to have guinea pigs and it seems the champagne in hamsters is called cream in guinea pigs.

Lol yeah I am counting days, even put a notice in at my day job that I am unavailable for work that day since we will have to drive an hour to get him.
That is really neat! I am not very knowledgeable in guneapig colors, but searched it up and they look adorable!

There's no reason why he shouldn't settle and become very tame. He may go shy and hide the first couple of weeks, even after being handled by the breeder but that would be perfectly normal and part of the settling in phase.
Hamsters bite when they are afraid and usually the cause is humans handling them wrongly.
Shaun will be loved and respected, you are sensitive to his needs and feelings so i can only see happiness on the horizon. Roll on Friday.

That is true, I have had several hamsters from petstores or rehomed from people who have had limited handling prior to moving in with me who have become very trusting hansters who tolerating handling well
We where gonna get a white syrian male when we where at holiday a few weeks ago but sadly they had rehomed him to someone else when we arrived.
I know Shaun will get a great home with us, and I am very much looking forward to getting to know him when he is ready
