Re: Happy Hamsters: The most important thing... IMHO
Unfortunately those are both poor quality foods unfortunately. The proper diet in the US is Higgins Vita Garden with added flax seed & Pure Bites or another high quality animal protein source(boiled egg for example) - I think we've gone into that on another thread though, and proper diet is extremely important as it ultimately is the basis for good health!
Personally I've heard good things on Chewy. The only negatives seem to come from people buying canned foods and such having them smash other things potentially, but I wouldn't let that deter you from ordering through them. You could order Higgins Vita Garden through Petco for example, but stick to authorized retailers rather than Amazon(food etc isn't necessarily always genuine from there and things can get sketchy in terms of legitimacy of products - some things aren't bad there, but be cautious).
I personally wouldn't store food in the refrigerator due to moisture problems, but you can definitely freeze some. You don't want to get more than you could use in 6 months though as vitamins etc start degrading at that point from things like oxidation which isn't really possible to avoid in a home environment.

We did cover this in another thread, I am not ignoring or arguing about what you said, just shared with what is available to me to purchase in my location, and I agree proper diet is extremely important as it ultimately is the basis for good health.
The city doesn't have a Petco only a Petsmart. I'll go check out Petco's online site and see how long it takes to receive an order delivered from wherever There may be to Here in the middle of nowhere.

For what's its worth... I purchased my Higgins bag from a seller on Ebay.
There are others also selling the same product. I found no stores locally that carry this product so ordering online was the only way for me.

I have to disagree. A bagged commercial product like this being sold via ebay should be perfectly fine, just check use by/best before dates.
IN UK, we can't get hold of my bunny dwarf mex so I bought form an ebay seller.
Many pet companies sell on ebay also. Loose food I would be cautious but bagged up commercial mixes I see no issue

The label from the back of the Higgins bag I bought on Ebay. Use by date is May 11, 2023.
IMHO people who care for hamsters are saints and need all the encouragement other owners can give them.
Let's not beat up on folks, OK?

At the end of the day regardless of different views, we're all here because we care about hamsters!
