Default Bin Cage Disaster!

Hello everyone! I posted a few days ago about how I had ordered a storage container to make into a bin cage. Well, it ended up ariving today... cracked. :'( I could return it and replace it however upon seeing it I realised it wasn't quite as wide as i'd hoped. I did read the mesurments before buying the box, but I've always been one of those people who struggles to visualise exactly how big things are based on mesurments alone. I think i will keep it for now as a backup ( only the lid was cracked so it's not completely unusable) and I've ordered another storage bin - Buy Really Useful 160 Litre Heavy Duty Trunk with Handles | Plastic storage boxes and drawers | Argos it's about the same length wise but should hopefully be a bit wider and give more floorspace. Has anyone on here ever used this bin before? I can't seem to find any pictures of it set up as a cage anywhere, I'm hoping that this one is more suitable for my future hammy! I've opted for click and collect this time so hopefully there will be no cracks! I'm still waiting for the items I ordered from Pet
Planet to arrive they havent given me a set date for the delivery yet. The bedding I ordered is coming either tomorrow or thursday and I ordered a 21cm trixie wheel that should be arriving friday! I really hope everything arrives in time so I can actually get them this weekend, it would be a shame to have to push it back to next weekend as Ive really been looking forward to it!

That should be fine for a dwarf hamster sizewise.
I have converted many storage boxes into bin cages by cutting out and meshing the lid, a window and a back vent. I find the really useful boxes the easiest ones to work with because they have a flat lid and they do a 145l box.

I use that bin as a run for my hamsters, I do have a video on my channel where i set it up as a cage using recycling

I think the user benfitsben has this bin set up as a cage, I'm not sure if they shared pictures. I know I have seen some on instagram, if you are on there the user ferdinandvonhamster used to use it as a cage.

Heres a picture of the bin set up kinda, petplanet sent me the wrong wheel and it also had a crack in it but I've already ordered a trixie wheel that should be ariving tomorrow. I'm planning on making the substrate deeper. I'm out of kaytee so I'm gonna pick up some carefresh when I get my hamster and hopefully that will be enough for them to burrow. I'm also gonna add some timothy hay and a sand bath it will have a lot more space once I swap out that big wheel I just wanted to put it in there while I was setting it up to see what it looked like. Any feedback / sugestions are very welcome!

That looks fine. Once you know what your hamster likes and does, you can always add more or more texture. If you want to use Timothy hay, make sure that you freeze it first for a few days.

They like a sandbath that's partly covered because hamsters don't like to feel exposed. You can put a little hide inside a larger sand bath or make a card board shelter for a smaller one.

Cage looks nice, comfy and inviting. I’m sure your new hamster will be very happy our hamster adores his carrot topped house! Hope yours does too and I also have a couple of the little balls, we sometimes wedge carrot bits into them, our hamster enjoys working to get them out
