Default New Bedding!

Hi! So I've ordered some new bedding for Pixie as her other one doesn't hold burrows at all and was very dusty when I got it out the bag.

Do I replace the whole enclosure with the new bedding or do I half and half? I'm only worried about it because her old bedding is quite sharp and dusty, but I don't want to stress her.

Thanks!

Default Re: New Bedding!

If the old bedding is dusty and sharp it could cause potential injury and respiratory infections. In this situation, I would honestly say the temporary stress of a full cage change is worth it to have a safer enclosure. You'd also be putting your hamster through way more stressful things if she ended up with a respiratory infection worst case scenario - at least one vet trip(sometimes multiple depending on how persistent the infection is etc), having to be given antibiotics, and things like that. The benefits far outweigh the risk in my honest opinion so I would just go ahead with a full change in this case.
