Default Health issue or normal?

Hi. recently Pixie has been a lot more vocal than usual. From random squeaking, to woodpecker noises? (not sure how to describe) She has also been a lot more jumpy, I haven't changed routine, feeding etc. and so I'm wondering if it's worth seeing a vet about or is this normal? She isn't constantly making the noises but it's much more than usual.

She has also been constantly running on her wheel (as usual) but then every minute or so getting off, doing a little circle round her hide and hopping right back on? This makes me want to think it's stress, but in all honesty I have no clue.

I've been very blunt so if anyone wants to know anymore, please say.

Thanks

Do you have any other pets that could be worrying her?

I do have a dog that rarely ever comes in my room, she has no way to get near her though. She's also definitely been a lot more curious and speedy, which is again making me think she's stressed but I'm still trying to figure out if it was stress what would it be? As nothing has changed.

There's no difference in her looks wise, so I don't think it would be an injury. I just think it's quite an odd one. I may see how she gets on as it really isn't too bad at the moment.

Thanks for your reply

What species of hamster is Pixie?

They can get spooked over things we aren't even aware of.
You could try to distract her attention by adding a new hide or exchanging one with a different one so she has something new to focus on.

Could also be that she's trying to tell you something. My foster Robo dug around his wheel the other morning and jammed himself under it. Turned out that his wheel had moved and touched the sandbath and wasn't spinning freely. I quickly sorted it and he went off to bed.

I'd check her water bottle, all access bridges etc and give her a big heap of torn into strips plain toilet paper nesting material to give her something to do. They usually can't resist adding to their nests. Or give her a new whimzee.

They do change their behaviour sometimes and its impossible to say what is normal. I'd give her a health check to make sure that there isn't a physical cause.

If you think that she's more vocal because she's in pain then she would need to see a vet of course.

Maybe you could post a photo of her here?
