What's his current name?

Do you like proper male names for hamsters?

Came in handy for me once when i posted a bottle clip to the family who adopted a Robo from me. I didn't know their surname so i addressed it to a Mr Gerald Roborovski.

I'm looking forward to hear what you're going to call him.
What colour is he?

He’s standard brown Robo colour! The only difference between him and Nugget was Nugget had a more white face. Currently called Woody - which is quite nice but just not we’d normally choose (that name always got crossed off the list every time). I think we’ll just have to get heads together and draw up a list.

I was just going to ask if you were getting Woody. With you saying there was a delay. I think the rescue people had some sort of incident and have been unable to drive. I think they have been asking for people to help with transport.

I always have names in my head - mostly cosmic related - but i can never suggest anything to people as I never know what they are into .

Hope you can get him soon.

Hi Luna - do you know the rescue then ?

Have a shortlist of names now and will wait till we see him I think before finally deciding.

i know of them, i think it's a network of people that rescue.
I think it may have started off up in Darlington(?) then York and spread if i am connecting the people involved correctly. I've definitely seen them on Instagram and I saw them post about an incident, which made me think it might be the rescue you were waiting on.

I'm off instagram for a few days so can;t check but I think someone I know/follow has just adopted from them and taken a foster in too.

Happy Hamsters. Seems like they’re doing a good job - yes they have different branches. I was just so pleased to find a Robo to adopt.

Link please! Although I am short on cash so trying to reuse a lot of things.

Update today. He was being hand tamed a bit at the rescue but is now a bit skitty apparently after they’d been away. Well I expected an adopted Robo to be a bit skitty anyway I guess. Nugget was the same. He’ll be skitty at the change too but hopefully settle in the first couple of weeks.

He’s supposed to be coming on Sunday but don’t have details yet. Such a shame Pickle is not doing so well at this time. Fingers crossed.

Finished setting up the cage now. I found another boggle with the plaza - although a minor one. If you want to attach things at roof level, the curved connectors on the roof get in the way. I had thought about adding a shelf at roof level over a hard bendy bridge- but not possible unless there’s a gap above the shelf - which would be more risky if a hamster climbed up there and managed to get onto the shelf. So put hemp mat over the bendy bridge instead.

Anyway think it’s set up safely - maybe need the odd tweak. A lot of fiddling about to support heavy things underneath . Will post photos later.

So Robo is coming tomorrow and his cage set up is finished. Did a bit more tweaking today. There are still a couple of small things in the freezer that will need to be added later (some treat snacks and a dangly loofa thing.

So - it was quite fiddly. Done a bit at a time over the last week and a bit in between other things as it's been a busy week (so the delay has worked in my favour).

Setting up a plaza for a robo there is the height issue.

Have 4" high cardboard around the inside of most of the bars and about 9" of substrate. Which reduces the height a lot. So house is supported on full height legs (and still looks low!). The rock thing is resin and quite light, but sat on a platform anyway as quite big so would still weigh a bit. The platform underneath is the my hack platform made from Pickle's old house - it also has dowel legs glued to it so supported underneath.

It's all Fitch but a bit of Finacard sprinkled on top and a few cornflower petals.

So I got it all set up eventually after missing screws and wingnuts for various shelves - found the screws eventually. And the ladder well and truly secure. Glued a dowel to the shelf but it could still lift up so OH drilled a hole in the side and I screwed that to the bars as well.
