Re: Help!! Hamster escaped!!
He is home safely!!!
Thank you very much everyone, in the end I sat on the toilet seat and waited patiently and eventually he came out and explored the variety of toys/tubes I had on the floor to tempt him. It was his sand bath which he climbed into (sand in a big China dog food bowl!) so I just picked up the whole bowl and took it over to his cage. As soon as I shut him safely in I got so emotional! Think I have been tense all day but so glad he is now home. His hoard was bigger than I have ever seen before after being in his cage again for 5 minutes! All good again thank you!

Re: Help!! Hamster escaped!!
It is stressful isn't it?! Glad he came home. Our current hamster is sneakier than that. He's escaped twice. Both my own fault. He is sneakier in that he won't come out if he knows you're there as he doesn't want to be caught! So he stays in hiding until all the lights are out and no sound in the house. He wouldn't even come out if I sat in the same room in the dark! I think he hears the feet on the stairs and the doors closing upstairs and then comes out! I had upturned the whole living room trying to find him and still couldn't (reckon he kept moving as I moved something out of the way). I caught him in his cage in the end by putting it on the floor with a ladder leading up to it with treats on. I have a nightcam so sat upstairs watching the cage on the nightcam and as soon as he got into the cage I nipped down and closed the door. Lol.

Oh, I’m so glad to hear that! The sense of relief when you see them again is amazing isn’t it?! Hope he’s had a lovely snooze back in the comfort of his cage.

Re: Help!! Hamster escaped!!
My new 2-month-old Robo Yoda, escaped from his cage the first night I got him. I couldn't get the mesh in time, and he escaped at 12am. But thank god he was okay. They are very cheeky these little guys, and since then he hasn't tried to escape.

Re: Help!! Hamster escaped!!
Aw thanks so much everyone, it’s comforting to know it happens quite often!
They cause so much panic don’t they because they are so tiny! I was worried he would chew cables or something!
Your hamster hiding when you are anywhere near sounds a bit like what Chuck was doing! They must be having a great time and think I’m alright thanks mum I don’t wanna go home!
Hope all of your hammies stay safe!!
