Default Where did they come from?

I was just wondering where the majority of the forums hamsters have come from? Are they shop brought, from a breeder, rescued (and so origin unknown) or a mixture, or some where different.

So i have attempted to set up a poll to find out (its my first so bare with me )

Okay - i have amended it and its now ready - I think?

So mine have come from a shop and breeder in the past. All have been wonderful and the 3 that I have owned in the north have been lovely. 2 came from a shop (which is sadly now closed) and 1 from a breeder. All have been inquisitive and patient with me whilst I learn and get accustomed to their ways.

I would definitely continue to get hamsters in this way.

All of ours have been from pet shops. Have had lots over the years and really only had 2 that were 'untameable'.

My 2 syrians came from pets at home although I sort of rescued stella from another student who didn't want her any more

And poppet was in the adoption bit in pets at home.... so I voted for a mixture between shop and rescue

Its interesting that even when everyone recommends the breeders, most of us have them from shops. I think its the effect of just seeing them all fluffy and lonely there, and we just want to take them home immediately. Picking a breeder and all that stuff is simply not spontaneous enough for humans in general i think
