Default How to remove residue from plastic?

Does anyone know how to remove residue and adhesive from stickers from clear plastic?

The coloured base is easy and adhesive from stickers i remove with nail varnish remover which doesn't work on the clear plastic, only makes it worse.
Tried scrubbing with washing up liquid but doesn't work either.

Any ideas anyone? Thank you in advance.

Do you mean a sticker on the base of a plastic toy? They can be a pig. I had something like that on a Sputnik once. The residue was stuck hard (and the label) and just wouldn’t come off. In the end it was a lot of soaking and scrubbing with one of those sponges with a green scourer backing plus fairy liquid. It still left some sticky feeling so more scrubbing with fairy and a scourer. I think I gave up removing it entirely and the very slight stickiness left was on the outside so not likely to cause an issue.

Ooh - off to look that up.

Actually after reading the warning labels on the Mykal one I am not sure I would use it on a hamster item.

I haven’t actually used mine for hamster. stuff & it does have a very strong smell (not sure what make it is as I’ve had it years) but if you wash it after with washing up liquid it should be fine.

It's the clear plastic section of a Duna Multy that has sticker and velcro adhesive on it. Tried nail varnish remover and scrubbing with washing up liquid but dulled the plastic and didn't remove all the stubborn adhesive.

I think my best option is to modify the cage by adding a couple of meshed windows.

Try rubbing it with butter smeared on a paper towel. It takes a wee while and some elbow grease, but it does work, and it doesn't damage the plastic.

Aha! I just remembered something that works! The mention of butter reminded me. I had this same issue with second hand computers that needed cleaning up for resale and horribly stuck on sticky stuff from labels. The solution that worked - amazingly - was peanut butter. Apparently the oils in it. And it really did work and left no mark. You smear it on thick and leave it - can’t remember how long but I’d say a day. Then just wipe it off with a damp cloth and dry it.
