I did buy the sticky stuff remover to use on other things and will try the butter/peanut butter removal method next time on hamster things. Thank you all for the tips.

Impatient me had already had a heavy handed go before i checked replies, stupid i know, and made a right mess of it by dulling the plastic. Lesson learned.

Ended up with a perfectly functionable but tatty looking Duna Multy so cut the offending area out, made it into a window and covered marks with butterflies.

They're 79p a sheet wheelie bin stickers from the cheapy shop, either b&m or home bargains. The leaves are from the flamingo sheet.

That looks good. How did you cut the plastic out? I would love to do this with my maxi duna cage.

Or even put a front door in it!

I use a Dremel power tool with a plastic cutting disc attachment to cut plastic.

Yes, i have been thinking of a front door as well, either as a meshed plastic panel or a panel from a wire cage cut to size.
I think it may work best with hinges at the bottom so the panel opens outwards with a chain on the side like a draw bridge and a catch at the top to close it, maybe one on each side as well. One could put a piece of thick cardboard down for the hamster to walk out on. Hmm, may have a go next time i find a suitable cage for free or cheap.

Any ideas on what could work best?

I have in the meantime figured out how to wall mount a wheel to a bin cage with a mesh and playpen wire panel which has been tested by an energetic dwarf and been given the paws up.

I have seen old cage doors attached to bin cages before.

I really like what you did there Ria!
I have a large front door from an old cage on my bin cage & it works really well, my door opens to the side but a door that drops down is best if the old door you get works that way.

To attach a door within a wire panel like in Serendipity's link would be easy and certainly an option. Thank you for the link.

It's more of a big door i'm thinking of. What kind of hinges and catch did you use cypher?
Any chance of a photo please?
