Re: Foster hamsters
You have done a great job of the bin cage.
How heartbreaking for that hamster to have to live like that. I hope they find a forever home soon.

Dwarfie is fine in the rescue and has discovered the joys of burrowing in her bin cage. It always amazes me how their appearance can change almost overnight given a safe place to live and decent food. She looked old and defeated on arrival but has already started to look like a normal and alert dwarf. Hamsters are unbelievably resilient.

Re: Foster hamsters
Just had great news from a rescue. The little dwarf from the broken cage has found a loving forever home. It made my day to hear that so wanted to share.

Re: Foster hamsters
That is great news. How awful that dogs and cats were knocking her cage around, thank goodness she was rescued poor little love.

Re: Foster hamsters
I just collected the two young dwarfies. They'll stay with me over the weekend to give the rehoming lady a chance to set up nice cages for them. I'll keep them in their little cages for now but will add some enrichment of course.

Re: Foster hamsters
They are little porkers but they'll shape up once they're in a better environment.
Not much i can do with cages that small but at least they have a cosy place to sleep now and they won't be in those cages for much longer. Their plastic huts had rough straw for bedding.
I put a cover over half the sandbath after i took this photo but they are not shy at all.
