Tough one. I just had to drag myself away from a Robo i really wanted to take home. He sat at the front of the adoption tank, clearly wanting out of there.

I'm posting in sections because this site has been playing up so much lately.

Appearancewise, everything was alarmingly wrong with this Robo.
Hunched back, slanty eyes, very long legs and a hopping walk, ears down, dishevelled fur with thin patches.

I pointed all this out to an employee and asked for an explanation. Turns out that Robo had been handed in with an injury (caused by ignorant humans keeping them in pairs) and covered in mites. He was in isolation for a long time while receiving vetenary treatment and has been given the all clear by the vet.

The young lady seemed to care and agreed that Robo doesn't look right, videoed his odd, hunched and hopping walk to show to the vet.

I'm tempted to take this little Robo on BUT i cannot take the risk to possibly introduce mites to our hamsters.

It can be very hard to walk away from situations like that and i'm unhappy about it.

That must have been so upsetting to see the poor Robo like that. Would it be possible to take the robo to your friends rescue? I understand this may not be an option.

I wouldn't even ask them for a number of reasons:

a) their animals could contract an illness
b) they don't have the space to quarantine
c) vet bills (skin scrapes alone are pricey because they require aneasthesia)
d) not being able to rehome

The Robo was very lively but i was very surprised that he had been given the all clear by their vet.

If i had a spare room to quarantine him until he had been seen by my own vet, i'd adopt him.

I really hope that he will get noticed by someone with a similar mindset who has the space and access to a good vet.
